new space... post a prayer

It has finally happened. The Bethany Community in Seattle moved into new space today, dedicating the space to Christ and praying together that we would bring the elements of prayer, word, confession and hospitality into this space, in order that Christ might be clearly seen through this community.

The space itself is remarkable, the design of the Miller-Hull partnership in Seattle, and now the work of moving into the space with what I called 'soul furniture' in today's sermon (available here by Monday afternoon) belongs to us.

Though it's rare for me to address the issues of our local church on this blog, I'm inviting anyone to post a prayer for the Bethany community in the comments section, asking that God will shape us as His people in order that His character will be seen with increasing clarity in our life together. I'll start things off by offering this Celtic Prayer, which hangs on the climbing wall in my office:

Kindle in our hearts God The flame of that love which never ceases; That it may burn in us Giving light to others. May we shine forever With your eternal light Even your Son Jesus Christ Our Savior and Redeemer

Thanks in advance to all who are willing to post prayers... we'll collect them and them to the book we're create to mark this chapter of transition.

Cheers...
